Cane toads, Rhinella marina, are notorious amphibians native to South and Central America but introduced to various regions worldwide. Recognized for their large size, warty skin, and distinctive parotoid glands behind the eyes, these toads have become invasive species in Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Caribbean. Introduced in attempts to control agricultural pests, they have thrived and caused ecological imbalances. Cane toads secrete potent toxins from their skin, posing a threat to predators.
