Stenodactylus petrii, also known as the Sand Gecko, is a small, desert-dwelling reptile native to the arid regions of North Africa and the Middle East. This gecko thrives in sandy environments, where its pale, camouflaged body blends with the desert landscape. It has slender toes adapted for digging and navigating loose sand. S. petrii is primarily nocturnal, hunting small insects and other invertebrates. Its diet helps control pest populations in its habitat. Like many geckos, it can drop its tail as a defense mechanism.
