Macklot's python (Liasis mackloti) is a medium-sized non-venomous snake native to Indonesia, East Timor, and New Guinea. Typically reaching lengths of 6-8 feet, these pythons exhibit a sleek, muscular build with an iridescent sheen on their dark brown to olive skin. Their bellies are lighter, often with a yellowish hue. Primarily terrestrial, Macklot's pythons are also proficient climbers and swimmers. They are nocturnal hunters, feeding on small mammals, birds, and occasionally reptiles. In captivity, they are known for their hardy nature and moderate care requirements, making them popular among reptile enthusiasts despite their sometimes defensive temperament.
