The Green Tree Python (Morelia viridis) is a striking, arboreal snake native to New Guinea, Indonesia, and parts of Australia. Known for its vibrant green colouration, which provides excellent camouflage among the foliage, it is a nocturnal predator primarily feeding on small mammals and birds. Green tree pythons are popular in the pet trade due to their beauty and relatively manageable size, usually growing to about 4-6 feet in length. They require a humid, well-vegetated environment and can live up to 20 years in captivity.
