Horsfield's tortoises, also known as Russian tortoises, are small, hardy reptiles native to Central Asia. They are recognized for their distinctive, dome-shaped shells and robust, clawed legs adapted for digging. These tortoises are herbivorous, primarily feeding on leafy greens, flowers, and grasses. Known for their longevity, they can live up to 50 years in captivity with proper care. They require a warm, dry habitat with access to UVB lighting and basking areas. Horsfield's tortoises are popular pets due to their manageable size, relatively simple care requirements, and engaging personalities. However, they need ample space to roam and opportunities to burrow.
