The Golden Mantella, scientifically known as Mantella aurantiaca, is a captivating and endangered species of frog native to the rainforests of Madagascar. Renowned for its vibrant and striking golden-orange hue, this small amphibian holds a special place in the hearts of amphibian enthusiasts and conservationists alike. Measuring just a few centimetres in length, the Golden Mantella inhabits the leaf litter of humid forests, where it preys on small insects and invertebrates. Its brilliant coloration serves as a warning to potential predators of its toxic nature, derived from the alkaloids present in its skin secretions.
Adult size: 3 - 4cm.
Life Span: 4 - 8 years.
These are NON toxic in captivity, the toxins derive from their diet in the wild.
