Gargoyle geckos make fascinating and enchanting pets for reptile enthusiasts. These unique creatures, native to New Caledonia, are renowned for their distinctive appearance and ease of care. Gargoyle geckos derive their name from the horn-like projections on their heads and the bumpy, textured skin that resembles the features of a mythical gargoyle. Their compact size, typically ranging from 7 to 10 inches in length, makes them well-suited for captivity. Creating a comfortable environment is crucial, with a well-ventilated terrarium featuring vertical elements such as branches and foliage, mimicking their natural arboreal habitat. Gargoyle geckos are nocturnal, preferring a diet of commercially available crested gecko diet or a mixture of fruit baby food, supplemented with insects.
With their docile nature, relatively low-maintenance requirements, and captivating appearance, gargoyle geckos are an excellent choice for both novice and experienced reptile keepers alike. Regular handling and proper husbandry contribute to the well-being and longevity of these charming geckos in captivity.
