Fire skinks, Lepidothyris fernandi, native to West Africa, captivate with their vibrant colors and distinctive patterns. These small, ground-dwelling lizards boast a brilliant blend of orange, red, and black scales, resembling flickering flames, hence their name. Growing up to a foot in length, they prefer tropical habitats, thriving in warm and humid environments with ample hiding spots. As burrowers, they spend much of their time beneath the substrate.
