The Riobamba Marsupial Frog, Gastrotheca riobambae is a fascinating amphibian species endemic to the cloud forests of Ecuador. These marsupial frogs exhibit unique reproductive behavior, with females carrying developing eggs in a dorsal pouch. Unfortunately, their population faces threats from habitat destruction and disease. Given their vulnerable status in the wild, conservationists, researchers, and hobbiests maintain captive populations to safeguard the species from extinction.
