Yellow and Black Poison Dart Frog
Dendrobates leucomelas
Captive Bred.
Size: 1-2cm

A striking amphibian native to the rainforests of Venezuela. Renowned for its vivid yellow and black colouration, this small frog uses potent toxins to deter predators. Despite their toxicity in the wild, these frogs lose their poisonous nature in captivity due to a diet change. Their vibrant patterns serve as a warning signal, making them a fascinating example of aposematic colouration in nature.
Adult size: 3 - 4cm.
Life Span: 4 - 8 years.
These are NON toxic in captivity, the toxins derive from their diet in the wild.
